Boca Raton, Florida, USA, April 15, 2014: The 3-day Technology & Showcase conference hosted by Fiatech on emerging solutions in Boca Raton once again gathered thought leaders, subject matter experts, solution providers, and visionaries featuring several content-rich sessions, keynotes, panels, and presentations. Topics discussed included BIM for Project Controls, Work face Planning (WFP), mobile construction technologies, data management, Virtual Design and Construction, telematics and many more subjects.

Mr. Firas Hijazi, Information Systems Manager for project automation and controls, presented and highlighted the role of telematics in construction during the Horizon 360 panel focusing on 3 main components "maintenance", "utilization" and "geography safety" that aim at saving money through telematics. Firas also had another presentation detailing different use-cases of ongoing RFID implementations in construction sites for employees tracking and access control, material and assets management, fuel management and fabricated spools RTLS in laydown yards.  The presentation provides a vision of the expected benefits for the construction industry from “Internet of Things” based on the analysis of the digital “Big Data” collected from the rapidly growing network of “things” for better decision making.

Furthermore, Mr. Chehade Kassouf, Business Consulting Manager delivered two presentations: "Imagine a World Without Isometric" discussing Project Information Flow (PIF), piping management, its challenges and solutions. The second presentation, entitled "AWP- Reduction to Practice" focused on discussing EPC phase challenges in light of sub-optimization and project challenges in some of the largest piping projects in the Middle East. The presentation also discussed the options and solutions piping contracts and fabricators have in order to improve processes, cut lead times and save money.  

Also, a presentation on integrated maintenance and materials management was given by Mr. Khaled Al-Shami, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Solutions Manager,  elaborating on the new generation tools and best practices to increase visibility, predictability and control for maximizing asset reliability.
